Its interesting to note that when God was about deliver his people from the oppression of Egypt, he ensures that in the process, they are laden with gifts of silver and Gold by their oppressors (A kind of divine compensation package).
Because we are assured that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose, we continue to rest in the confidence that all our experiences, whether good or bad only serve to make us richer. Richer in experience, richer in faith, richer in confidence of God's ability to deliver you from the most adverse of circumstances - Richer.
Over the last few days we not only continue to see stability but continuing improvement in Sandra's recovery.
She has recently been able to drink liquids and has been able to independently feed herself some small portions of ice cream and yoghurt. This is the first semi-solid food she has been able to eat for the last five weeks (She's looking forward to working up to some hard dough bread - keep praying!)
Her recall continues to improve and though experiencing short spells of confusion, she demonstrates good awareness and comprehension and during her now extensive periods of lucidity.
Last night it was a great honour to receive on Sandra's behalf, an award presented from the Council of black lead churches (CBLC), where she received the award for Minister of the year 2009, in recognitions of her contribution to promoting health and healthy living in the community.
Today is the 40th day of Sandra's stay in critical care and while reflecting on this I remembered how on hearing the medical prognosis for Sandra on day one, turning to those who were at the hospital with us and saying "All we have is God".
40 days later as a family we have come to realise that if all you have is God, actually that's more than enough.
After being unsettled for most of the previous night and day, Sandra came through perhaps one of the most challenging periods of her recovery starting the day in a much more relaxed state.
For the first time since last week she was able to take a few steps across the ward with appropriate support as well as communicate for brief periods through aid of a special speech valve attached to the tracheotomy.
Although still a little disoriented, she is also beginning to demonstrate good memory recall although these are sometimes interspersed with moments of confusion.
Through a process of adjustments to medication and treatment she is once again making good progress.
During our time of prayer this morning we were reminded that the Holy Spirit the comforter would bring all things to our remembrance (John 14:26)
Over the next few days please pray with us over this aspect of Sandra's recovery, that she will have perfect and sound memory recall.
