Over the last few days Sandra's levels of blood pressure have been at alarmingly high levels with her systolic pressure almost doubling at various points throughout the weekend, this carries its own inherent dangers.
However today I am glad to report that the excessive blood pressure levels being experienced over the weekend, dramatically reduced throughout the night and by Sunday morning was being sustained at a consistently lower level. Thanks for your prayers of support.
The main objective over the next few days is to see the swelling which caused the relapse last week continue to reduce and for her to be able to breath comfortably around the tracheotomy.
A few days ago I was reminded that the best strategy in any fight is to have the ability to outlast your adversary. The word calls that ability 'patience.'
After a few days of patiently waiting, I am glad to inform you that today Sandra was finally taken off the respirator, although she still receives a small dose of oxygen for support.
She also continues to show promising signs of improvement despite high levels of blood pressure. As she is now fully off sedation, she is experiencing increasing periods of lucidity and needing mild levels of medication for general discomfort.
The tracheotomy remains in place for the time being and as the doctors were unable to identify the cause of the collapse, will continue exploratory procedures over the next few days.
Over the coming days please pray over the high levels of blood pressure for normalisation as well as continued healing at the site of the tracheotomy.
Once again thank you all for standing with us through your messages of encouragement and for remaining constant in prayers and consistent in faith.
Following the collapse of her airway on Monday afternoon, Sandra remains in a sedated but stable condition.
The tracheotomy has now been reinstalled and her breathing is also being supported via the respirator while she remains sedated.
The plan over the next couple of days is to take some investigative measures to understand the root cause and condition of the swelling.
In the meantime we would ask you to continue to stand with us in persistent prayer, confidence and thanksgiving for her total deliverance from this temporary set back.
