I know it seems really early, but just wanted to be one of the first to wish all who have been following, supporting and praying for Sandra's recovery a very happy Christmas, not only because the festive season will soon be upon us, but also because following Sandra's medical review last week the medical team informed us that based on her current rate of progress they expect to discharge Sandra from hospital in time for Christmas!
We Praise God for this wonderful news and in many respects as a family we have already had our Christmas present early - the gift of Sandra's life.
The verse in Psalms 122:1 which says "I was glad when they said let us go into the house of the Lord" has particular significance for us as a family, as for the first time since Sandra's aneurysm, we were able to go back to Church to worship as a family and did we receive a warm welcome.
Just want to say to all the family at Renewal, thanks for such a warm welcome, it was really something special, we love you all.
This week Sandra continues her second week in rehabilitation and continues to make gradual but good progress with each day.
Please continue to remember her and the other patients and members of staff as she continues this incredible journey on the road to recovery.
The first few days of rehabilitation have been great as they have created a much more familiar environment for Sandra to continue the process of her recovery.
With her now having a much more normal day cycle and a familiar homelike environment this provides the backdrop for a range of specific programs which are being implemented with focus on various aspects of her development, such as physiotherapy, Occupational health and speech therapy.
Perhaps due to her own nursing background it appears that she is much more at home administering help to other patients as an 'honorary member of staff' rather than being being on the receiving end of care. I guess like Jesus she would rather minister than be ministered to.
