16 November 2009 - A new chapter

It was great to have Sandra home this weekend as it meant we were able to mark the occasion of her birthday but also give thanks for the closing of another chapter in the story of her recovery.

A new chapter

On Sandra's behalf we would like to say thank you to everyone for your cards, greetings, gifts and flowers. They are all greatly appreciated.

As we start a new week we also note the start of a new chapter in Sandra's recovery as rehabilitative care now commences. The objective is to focus on a program of care from a specialist team to help her regain the capabilities she had prior to her haemorrhage, again we believe and declare that she will 'recover all'.

As the mode of care now changes the updates will be a little less frequent with us now providing a weekly summary update unless there are any notable events in the interim.

We appreciate you continuing to stand and believe with us as a family and would ask you to continue to remember Sandra in your times of praise, thanksgiving and prayers.

This week in particular please also pray for Sandra James who will be undergoing heart surgery this week, that her operation will be a success and that she also will make a full recovery.

13 November 2009 - Birthday presence!

Today's date will remain a notable date for a number of reasons.
Not only because today is Sandra's birthday, but today is also the first day she has been able to wake up present in our home as she was allowed to stay with us last night.

Kevin and Sandra Thomas

As if those gifts weren't enough, today also denotes the day that she transfers from the Queen Elizabeth hospital to begin rehabilitation - Isn't God good!

We want to thank God for his grace and all of you for your prayers, calls and messages of encouragement, again we rejoice together.

We would also like to express our gratitude and appreciation to all the medical staff and team at Heartlands and Queen Elizabeth Hospital who have been involved in the process of Sandra's recovery.

We recognise that God is the God of miracles, but you are also the gloves his hand also works through from time to time - we bless you and thank God for you all.

We also continue to remember all the families and friends we made acquaintances with during this time, as we embark on the next phase of our journey we will not forget you or your loved ones.

11 November 2009 - Postponed

Thanks to the many of you who have not only being praying for Sandra but also for myself and my pending operation.

Amazingly although due to attend hospital this morning, my appointment was cancelled at the very last minute and deferred to 23rd December, due to the consultant unavailability.
It may well be that while we are in this season of miracles that by the time my next appointment comes God will have got there before the surgeon.

Sandra continues to remain in good form with her being able to take the odd trip home for a few hours which she finds very therapeutic.
She does have a slight chest infection which is being treated with antibiotics but we are hoping that by the time her birthday comes this Friday she will be able to spend the day with us at home.

Please continue to pray and give thanks for her ongoing improvement which is still impressing even some of he medical team.

We have also been praying for Anne Bruce another patient on the ward and I am glad to report that she is also showing remarkable improvement over the last few days with her now opening her eyes and showing signs of response, her family are obviously delighted. I have said we would continue to pray for her total recovery too - Watch this space.
